The Fourth Dimension...

                         Space Time...

We have gathered enough information about Space and Time to understand 'Space time'. If you haven't read our blogs on Space and Time, then go and read  them first to understand properly further. Before twentieth century everyone believes that the Space And Time are different and Independent to each other. Newton said that Time is constant everywhere in the Universe. It means that if 1 hour is passed on Earth then far away from the Earth, at an another end of Universe, there will be 1 hour passed. Along the Newton, many Scientists also agreed to that. Because, in our day to day life we see that the Space and time are constant.

But Space and Time are very relative in out daily life also. Suppose you found your partner. You decided a Date. And you don't read my blogs regularly, hence you don't know that time and space or we can say here place are relative to each other. You told only Venue to your partner. Will your date happen...? Definitely not. Instead you told only time and not Venue. Will your date happen in this case..? Nope. So, I think you understood well that Space and Time are very relative to each other.

Space time is what the Universe really is...

We discussed earlier about Theory about Space given by Sir Albert Einstein.

I used word Space for it, but the exact word is Space time. I referred Space in previous blog to make you comfortable with these terms.

*Importance of Space time...*

We can't touch it, we can't see it, we can't smell it but without Space time we wouldn't be here. If you want to understand the mysteries of the Universe, you must understand the Space time and how it behaves. It helps us to understand the History of Universe and by knowing history we can predict the future more perfectly. The very fundamental force of Universe is 'Gravitational Force'. But it is least understood and still very mysterious without space time.

    Minkowski Space

Space time is 4 Dimensional. We all are familiar with the three dimensions. Length or width, breadth, height. This this the Space. Time is also considered as 4th dimension. So 3D space and 1D time is collectively 4D Space Time. This is also called as Minkowski Space. 4D space time graph is like

You can see, we have represented 3D in 1 axis because we can't represent 4D on 2D paper.

    1. When you are slept ( Zero velocity )

When you are sleeping, you are not moving in space but you are moving with respect to time. Hence graph when you are sleeping will be like.

    2. When you are going to School from Home ( Constant Velocity)

When you are going to School from home ( considering you are in constant velocity). You go direct to School. You are doing a physical activity. You are moving in Space as well as in time. Hence your graph will be like.

    3. When you are coming Home from School ( Variable Velocity)

When you are returning to home from your School. Usually you don't come straight. You come fast then you decrease your speed. You stop somewhere in between school. Here your velocity isn't constant. Hence your graph will be.

Let's plot this Space time graph for light.

And the 3D graph  will look like.

You can see in very short time, light is covering very large space. Whatever happening outside of of this come won't effect our life or our Universe. Because even the fastest speed of Universe the light can't approach it.

This is called Light Cone. If you don't understand it properly then don't worry. I am going to explain it in detail in my further blogs because it s very wide and hard to understand concept. Try to understand it well enough, because we are going to collide with the light cone many times.

This all are theories are given by Western Physicists. But the Indians found many years ago that the Space and Time is incredibly connected.

 Space time is Ancient India.

Have you heard about the word the word 'Kaal'. No..not the Villain of Krrish. Everyone knows the kaal means the Black.

And Space is black. Here we can say Ancient Indians used Kaal word for Space. Simultaneously, another meaning of Kaal in Sanskrit is Time. It explains us that the Ancient Indians were acquainted with the relativeness( I mean Relationship )of Space and time.

If you are more curious about Space then you can watch a movie

'The Theory of Everything.'

Regards,

Have a good day 😄
